Edward Bushnell Papers 1888-1926

Edward Bushnell (1865-1944) was the son of Ebenezer and Cornelia K (Woodruff) Bushnell. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in the 1880s and Edward became a lawyer. His specialty was estate administration. He was involved in many social and civic activities, including the Cleveland School Board, where he served as president from 1915 to 1917. He was married to Maude Kidder Sherwin. The collection consists of correspondence and financial and legal documents relating to Bushnell's non-legal interests and to several estates which he handled.

Edward Bushnell (1865-1944) was born in Fremont, Ohio, to Ebenezer and Cornelia K. Woodruff Bushnell. Bushnell's father, an acquaintance of President Rutherford B. Hayes, was a Presbyterian minister and secretary-treasurer of Western Reserve College in Cleveland, Ohio. Because of Ebenezer Bushnell's work with the college, the family relocated to Cleveland in the 1880s and three of his sons, George, Thomas H. and Edward attended the school.
